Simone Pianigiani

Simone Pianigiani is one of the most accomplished coaches in Italian basketball history, renowned for his quiet leadership and his ability to build cohesive, high-performing teams. After dominating the domestic league with Montepaschi Siena-winning six consecutive national titles and reaching two EuroLeague Final Fours-he successfully extended his vision abroad.
 
His international career has spanned several countries and delivered tangible results.
In 2012, he led Fenerbahçe Istanbul to win the Turkish Cup. During the 2016–17 season, he coached Hapoel Jerusalem, guiding the team to an Israeli Championship and League Cup victory, and earning recognition as Israel’s Coach of the Year.
 
In 2020, he brought a European approach to the Chinese Basketball Association as head coach of the Beijing Ducks. In 2023, he signed a three-year contract with Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana (Slovenia), further solidifying his reputation as a globally respected coach capable of adapting to diverse environments while instilling a winning mindset.
 
As head coach of the Italian national team from 2009 to 2015, Pianigiani demonstrated long-term vision and continuity, playing a key role in the development of a new generation of Italian talent.
